In Kruunuvuorenranta, the key services are nearby. The area will have its own school, day-care centres, sports park and playpark, sports hall and sports field. Most of the commercial services will be located in the centre block. In the early stages, most services, such as a wider selection of shops, health services and pharmacy will be located in the centre of Laajasalo. Kruunuvuorenranta’s own services will be supplemented as construction progresses.
Kruunuvuorenranta’s public services will be dimensioned and scheduled according to the development of the population. An important part of the area’s public services will be located in an extensive service block on Varisluodonlahti, the future Stansvikinranta. This city block will house the Kruunuvuorenranta comprehensive school, day-care centre, playpark premises, youth facilities as well as, possibly, a Swedish school and day-care centre. The central Haakoninlahdenpuisto park, with its playpark, and Stansvikinranta beach will be located nearby. An invitational architectural competition for the design of the service block and playpark was resolved in 2021. The winning proposition will guide the planning going forward.
Some of the children from Kruunuvuorenranta go to Tahvonlahti primary school. The school and day-care centre will be renovated and an annex built in 2021–2023. During the renovation, temporary premises next to the school and additional premises on Jurmonkuja will be available.
The first day-care centre in Kruunuvuorenranta was completed in Borgströminmäki, along Jurmonkuja, at the turn of 2018 and 2019. The day-care centre includes a shared space for the residents. Borgströminmäki will also receive a fire station at the end of the 2020s.
Most of the commercial services at Kruunuvuorenranta will be located in a hybrid block that is near the public services block. The block is planned to have grocery stores, specialist boutiques and, possibly, café and restaurant services. The block will also have apartments.
The main streets near Haakoninlahti may also attract various services, such as a grocery store, restaurants and cafés and other leisure related services. At the moment, the Stansvik restaurant serves the residents of the area.
The Alepa Kruunuvuorenranta grocery store opened in the Gunillankallio and Borgströminmäki area in December 2019.
In addition to three boat harbours, canoe rental and rental saunas are also planned for the beaches. Space reservations for street-level shops are made along Koirasaarentie and the beach boulevard.
Regardless of where you are in Kruunuvuorenranta, you are only about a hundred metres away from the outdoor routes or nature trails that circle the area. The nationally valuable Stansvik and Tullisaari manor areas offer an exceptionally beautiful setting for outdoor activities.
The six-kilometre shore route will be completed in stages as housing construction progresses in the area. In the longer term, Kruunuranta will also have three boat harbours: one near Kruunuvuorensilta bridge, one on Haakoninlahti and one on the eastern edge of Koirasaaret.
Stansvikinranta beach will be located in the southern part of Kruunuvuorenranta in the future. Haakoninilahdenpuisto park, which will include a playpark, will be built to the north of the beach. Hopealaakso sports park will have versatile activities for people of all ages: for example, a playground, exercise equipment for youth and adults, petanque, padel, a football pitch, a skate park and a basketball court.
At the moment, Kruunuvuorenranta has two shared-use spaces available to the areas’ residents. The spaces can be reserved via Kruunuverkko (www.kruunuverkko.fi). More shared-use spaces will be built in the area later.
The 450 square metre shared-use space in Haakoninlahti, on the rooftop floor of Kruunuparkki 5, has a gym, a space for festivities and meetings, and a hobby room for crafts. The space for festivities and meetings is equipped with presentation technology and a fixed internet connection. The space also has showers, dressing rooms and a large kitchen with equipment. The parking garage also offers car wash facilities for parking space holders.
The Borgströminmäki shared-use space is in the same building with the day-care centre. The space is used by the day-care centre on weekdays between 8:00 and 16:00, and available to the residents during the evenings and weekends. The space has a larger hall suitable for use as a gym or meeting space, and smaller rooms for remote working, for example. The room is also fitted with a kitchen.
