Splendid festivities will be arranged 31 December in Kansalaistori Square to welcome in year 2020.
Stars of the evening are ALMA, who has made a name for herself internationally, Pyhimys and Gasellit, the leading artists in the domestic rap scene, and the children’s favourites Pikku Papun Orkesteri & Blind Gut Company. The popular DJ Windows95man with his 90s blast will make sure to keep the crowd dancing. Actress Alina Tomnikov and Constantinos “Gogi” Mavromichalis, well-known from Yle Kioski, will host the Helsinki New Year’s celebrations this time. Additionally, Helsinki Mayor Jan Vapaavuori will appear presenting the traditional New Year’s speech. The evening will culminate in the display of impressive fireworks.
This year, you may also go to the Parliament Building stairs or Mannerheimintie, closed for traffic, where you have a view over the New Year’s show. Mannerheimintie and Töölönlahdenkatu will be closed off for cars at 10 p.m. at the latest.
Please arrive in Kansalaistori from the direction of Mannerheimintie, passing either between Musiikkitalo and Kiasma or along Töölönlahdenkatu. There will be no entry for pedestrians from Linnunlaulu to Töölönlahti Park. Access is also provided from Elielinaukio along Töölönlahdenkatu.

Entrance to Helsinki New Year’s celebrations is free of charge. The event is accessible and with no age limit.
As usual, YLE will telecast the show to enable people to enjoy the show while staying on their sofas as well. The show will be broadcast on YLE TV1 on New Year’s Eve 31 December 2019 at 10:45 p.m.–01:00 a.m.
