Where would you like to have the next summer street in Helsinki? Do you know any places in the city where the pleasantness of the walking environment should be increased permanently?
The City of Helsinki has opened a map survey to chart residents’ wishes regarding the improvement of the pleasantness of the walking environment. By taking the survey, you can submit your feedback on different locations and any wishes you have regarding the development of such locations via the map user interface. The development measures can generally be divided into pleasantness trials, permanent solutions and combinations of the two. In addition to your map responses, you can submit your opinion about the selection of methods for increasing the pleasantness of walking environments and share your experiences with last years’ summer streets in the survey.
The survey results will be utilised in the development of the urban environment. The City aims to come up with solutions that support the sustainable development objectives of its City Strategy and implement the measures of its walking promotion programme. The City is also working on a land use development vision and a transport system plan for the city centre, the solutions of which can be promoted through trials.
The best way to increase the pleasantness of the urban environment is to have the residents of different areas, businesses and organisational operators (among others) take part in the selection, planning and implementation of locations. The survey is carried out by Ramboll Finland Oy, commissioned by the City of Helsinki.
The survey gives you an opportunity to genuinely influence the development of the city and share your own experiences, viewpoints and development needs regarding your own residential environment and the city at large.
The survey will be open until 19 October 2022.
